This session will provide an exemplar for those interested in faculty mentoring of novice online educators using QM as the guiding framework. The QM Higher Education Rubric was used by a seasoned online educator to assist in the development and training of new full-time, tenure-track and adjunct faculty members in the online course development process. Co-authors include the mentor and one of the mentees in this process, in order to provide ample discussion from both perspectives during the round table session. This session is particularly appropriate for those who are fac
Our institution is a large, multi-campus college with 5-years experience implementing QM, many QM certified courses, and a template-based process for developing credit courses that meet QM standards. Now, we are facing the challenge of implementing some of the most recent trends in American distance education such as MOOCs and Competency-based Education. Can the QM Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) Rubric be used to guide the design and development of a non-credit MOOC developmental course?
This presentation will highlight the useful course review tool that faculty and peer reviewers used for online courses at a state university, where the course builds integrated Quality Matters Standards.
Many of our faculty have completed the APPQMR training, yet seem unable to take the next step. This year, a group of faculty met in a Learning Community to discuss how to revise their courses to meet Quality Standards. Learn more about the FLC structure, meeting agendas, materials used, and results.
This poster will focus on how the features of a learning management system can be used to engage learners in an online learning environment.

Writing a plan that aligns the right technology with Quality Matters Standards can assist instructors to design powerful lessons. Examples of tech plans and a list of tech tools will be available.
This session aims to help higher education professionals consider trauma-informed principles when designing or modifying Open Education Resources (OERs). More educators are adopting OERs in their courses as a cost-saving strategy for students. In this session, participants will apply a trauma-informed framework (the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Framework—IDEA) to the OERs they plan to use to determine their appropriateness. The audit will include an analysis of culturally responsive and accessible elements found in the OERs.
This session for educators and instructional designers unveils key strategies for creating compelling online course content, focusing on storytelling, multimedia integration, and the application of learning theories. Discover how to leverage Custom GPT for personalized learning scenarios and image AI tools for captivating visuals. Attendees will gain practical insights into enhancing learner engagement in their online courses.

Feeling stalled in your QM implementation efforts? Ready to move to the next stage but not sure how? This presentation will frame your concerns in the language of change management based on recently published research on the QM Continuum of Excellence.
Alignment is hard, but it doesn't have to be incomprehensible. Whether you're an instructional designer consulting with faculty on the alignment process or a faculty member needing to develop a course, this session will provide you with strategies and tools to demystify the alignment process.
QM looks at internal data to understand how our services are being used in the community and how we should improve them. We have been using Intellectus Statistics software in these endeavors for the last half of 2020. Come learn about this statistical software, how QM has used it to our advantage, and how you can, too.
In this session, participants will learn about how the Maricopa Community Colleges have evolved their program viability processes to ensure the curriculum developed meets the needs of the diverse students and communities served by our institutions. We will discuss how the Maricopa Community Colleges established and leveraged these processes to design and develop relevant curriculum that supports the diverse students and communities our institutions serve.
Expanding how we approach the review process can help us foster a culture of continuous improvement. Discover unmet needs in course creation by analyzing data from the online course review process to identify the Top 10 “not met” standards, which will guide institutions to craft effective PD opportunities. Takeaways:Identify components to spotlight areas of improvement Outline a data-informed plan for faculty development using course review feedback Share practical implementation ideas.
"Just sit right back and you’ll hear our tale, a tale of course reviews
That started with the rubric and overcoming the “not met” blues.
When the feedback started getting rough, instructors were growing weary
So the design team found the standards causing the most misery."

QM standards 3.4 (The assessment instruments selected are sequenced, varied, and suited to the learner work being assessed) and 3.5 (The course provides learners with multiple opportunities to track their learning progress) are not required standards to pass a QM review but these standards have a direct impact on authentic learning and student achievement through the correct implementation of assessments. Meeting standards 3.4 and 3.5 will greatly impact the power to establish authentic learning and create better opportunities for measurable online learning.
How do you demonstrate the impact of your QA efforts and use this information to sustain and build your work? In this session, we will share how we do this at our large public university, provide links to survey instruments, present results, and discuss how to incorporate evaluation into QA plans.
